[해석] Daniel Caesar - ENTROPY

안녕하세요. 오늘 들어볼 노래는 Daniel Caesar의 ENTROPY 입니다.

 

ENTROPY는 다니엘의 2집 STUDY CASE 01의 첫 번째 트랙입니다.

 

제목인 엔트로피는  열역학 계의 유용하지 않은 에너지의 흐름을 설명할 때 이용되는 상태 함수라고 하는데요.

무슨 말인지는 잘 모르겠습니다.

 

가사를 보다보면 다니엘이 일관적으로 어떤 얘기를 하려는 것 같기는 한데요.

아마 어지러운 혼란 속에 있는 자신의 삶을 설명하려는 게 아닌가 하는 생각이 듭니다.

 

이 노래처럼 STUDY CASE 01에는 학술적인 개념을 접목시킨 곡이 여럿 있습니다.

개인적으로는 ENTROPY에서 이러한 앨범의 컨셉이 잘 묻어나온다고 생각합니다.

그녀와 긴밀한 관계가 된 것을 안식에 비유하며, 간접적으로 사랑이 없는 상태를 불안정하다고 표현합니다.

열역학의 제2법칙에 의하면 고립된 계에서 엔트로피는 감소하지 않습니다.
우주가 계속 팽창해서 엔트로피가 극도로 높아지면, 모든 입자가 붕괴되고 아원자 입자만 남는 우주 종말이 찾아온다고 해요.
이 때 우주의 모든 곳의 온도가 절대영도에 근접할 것으로 추측하기 때문에 이를 열적 사멸, 또는 "Big Freeze"라고 합니다.

KGB는 소련의 첩보기관이며 정치경찰이고요.
Jason Matthews의 소설 "Red Sparrow(붉은 참새)"에서는 KGB를 계승한 SVR에 관한 이야기를 다루기도 합니다.

Raise my jersey to the rafters라는 표현은 경기장이나 체육관에 유니폼을 매달아 놓는 스포츠 관습을 뜻합니다.
이 곡에서는 '나를 오랫동안 영광스러운 존재로 기억해달라'는 의미로 해석할 수 있겠네요.
